With over 5,000,000 notices here on funeral-notices.co.uk, we know that these are made up of predominantly “regular” people; your mum, brother, aunt, next door neighbour, or old school friend.
Occasionally though, a celebrity funeral notice makes it onto the site featuring someone who has in some way captured the hearts of fans nationwide.
In 2023 we have been unfortunate to lose a few beloved stars of music, film and television, but we thought it would be nice to take a look at some of the touching tributes visitors have left on their notices.
Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley, passed away at the age of 54. Following her passing, her notice page here on funeral-notices.co.uk received the following emotional tributes:
Lisa Marie, you were such a strong and determined lady, those who knew you all say the same thing, you were a genuine and caring person with a heart of gold. Your daddy's legacy ensured that you were surrounded by love from millions of people you'd never met. I hope that helped in the harder times. Be with Ben and your Daddy now. We love you tender little Lisa ♥

Sweet dreams princess. I grew up with you, so to me you were my sister overseas, and even though we never met, I always knew where to find you. Thank God you were part of my childhood. I won’t ever forget you Miss Lisa. X

Jeff Beck passed away suddenly at the age of 78 after he contracted bacterial meningitis. Thousands of his fans shared tributes to the guitar virtuoso across social media, and we received some truly heartfelt ones right here:
My condolences come from Germany and go to family, colleagues and close friends. I'm a late fan. His magical human nature brought me closer to his music. Not knowing that I already knew him anyway, he was everywhere there was good music. I would have liked to have been a "fan" longer and always will be.

Jeff is and was the greatest guitar player in the world. His unique style of music will never be copied by another musician. I am 70 years old and have listened to Jeff's music for most of my adult life. Thank you Jeff for your mastery of the arts and your dedication to your fans.

The legendary Lancashire commentator passed away in February, aged 77. His voice is synonymous with the English football, and there are certainly going to be a lot of fans that will miss him:
John Motson added so much pleasure to a viewer watching football whether it be a domestic or International game. A master of his craft who carried on the great legacy left from his predecessors at the BBC. My condolences to his family and although he is no longer with us, he'll never be forgotten.
Richard Freckleton
An iconic voice in the game of football with the trademark sheepskin coat. Many memorable days as a kid watching footy when he was at the helm. A true legend RIP.

This was the one that really seemed to strike a chord with thousands of people across the country, as popular TV and radio star Paul O’Grady passed away at the end of March, age 67. His well known love of dogs is what really seemed to endear him to he loyal fans, and we received hundreds of tributes to make sure everyone knew that he would be missed:
Paul O'Grady, what a fantastic man. I can't believe that you have gone. When I watched you in For The Love of Dogs, your kindness showed no bounds, you were a fantastic ambassador to Battersea, and you will be truly missed. Your dry wit and sense of humour will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything. Rest in peace.
Dianne
Dearest and beloved Paul, I don’t normally get so upset when I hear of a celebrity passing over but you were an exception with good reasons to shed so many tears. I have worked with animals for many years to help them and have a rescue dog called Milo who is my world. You were a true ambassador to highlight all these animals in need. You were totally authentic with all that you did. I know you will keep watching over them all. I will miss you and my heart goes out to your husband, all your animals and family and send them love and comfort until you all meet again at Rainbow Bridge.
