Will Christmas 2021 be Back to Normal?

Recently, we uploaded a blog on a worst-case scenario: being forced to self-isolate over Christmas due to Coronavirus. But today, we’re going to take a more optimistic look at the future.

Just a few months ago, it seemed like there was no end in sight for the global pandemic, but since then, multiple vaccines have been approved worldwide. While immunising the planet is a gigantic task, we can finally start to dream of a world without Coronavirus.

So, this time next year, where will we be? And, importantly to many, what becomes of Christmas 2021? In this blog, we’re going to discuss where we could be in 12 months’ time, and how next year’s festive season may look.

The Night is Darkest Before the Dawn

Let me preface the following by saying: I’m no scientist. I, like no one else in the world, knows where we will be in the battle against Coronavirus in December 2021. However, things are looking a lot less bleak than they were just a few months back. With 3 vaccines in the process of being approved and rolled out worldwide – and many others in the pipeline – the end may be finally in sight to the dreaded pandemic.

But for the time being, cases continue to rise (yet again) across the UK. And whilst the relaxed Christmas rules remain, leaders are now urging more caution between December 23rd and 27th, hoping to prevent a third UK wave of the virus across the country.

2021: A Christmas Odyssey?

Picture this: December 2021, Coronavirus is on its way out, no more of a bother to the general population than the usual winter flu. Families and friends are able to gather and celebrate what many people see as the most wonderful time of the year.

Keep this in the back of your mind this Christmas. It will be one like none that have come before, but hopefully also there will never be one like this again. There’s a good chance this Christmas will be hard for many. But we’ve all had to change our lifestyles since March, and the end is in sight.

I think we can all agree that Christmas 2021 – if things are more back to normal – will be something everyone will be looking forward to, and certainly a Christmas that we’ll never forget.
