This year’s been tough for us all, which means that many people are looking forward to Christmas more than they ever have before. But picture this: a few days before the festivities you come down with Coronavirus symptoms, take a test and low and behold, you have the disease. Christmas is ruined, surely?
Of course having Covid over the Christmas period will more than likely change your plans drastically, but fear not! In this blog I am going to cover some suggestions for what you can do to entertain yourself if you’re forced to self-isolate during the festive period.
A big part of Christmas time for most people is seeing family and friends, even those who you don’t usually have chance to see over the course of the year. If you’re self-isolating this is obviously out of the realm of possibility, but that doesn’t mean you have to be cut off from them.
This year, Coronavirus has made us all more tech-savvy than ever before, particularly older members of the public who it would be fair to say didn’t all have a great grasp on technology before the pandemic. Keeping this in mind, a great idea would be to organise Christmas video get-togethers with family and friends over the festive period.
Doing so will allow you to stay in touch with them, play some games with them, maybe even eat Christmas dinner with them! Remember, even for those who aren’t self-isolating, this Christmas will be one like no other, with many people not seeing as many family and friends as they usually would due to the ongoing pandemic. You’re not alone, and it looks more and more likely that this Christmas will be a one-off, with the world (hopefully) going back to normal next year.
Christmas puts everyone in a better mood. Why not treat yourself to some festive food and drink? A mince pie with a cup of mulled wine is sure to cheer you up.
How about Christmas films? Now as we all know, these greatly vary in quality, but there are some undisputed classics to enjoy at Christmas time. Why not stick on Elf, or failing that, how about A Muppets Christmas Carol? These are two personal favourites of mine.
These are just a few ideas on how to cheer up Christmas if you’re forced to self-isolate. I hope this proved helpful to you, but most of all I hope you don’t have to follow it! Thanks for reading.
