Meet the Team - Denise Steel

It's nice to put a face to a name, our Meet the Team blog series does just that.

As part of Reach Plc, funeral-notices.co.uk have been publishing notices in local newspapers for over 100 years. Denise Steel has been part of the team for more than 14 years, gaining a wealth of experience in the funeral industry as well as becoming something of an IT expert.

Denise is a proud mum and grandma and manages to juggle work and home life well - so much so she finds time for a pretty impressive list of hobbies. Denise enjoys gardening, dressmaking, cooking and 'wine-ing', she said:

"I love to make my own clothes and have just finished a coat for myself.

"I grow fruit and vegetables from seed in the greenhouse that I recently bought. I love cooking the food I grow and I like wine too."

Denise is Team Leader on the Funeral Notices team, managed by Sarah Welton. The Funeral Notices team is part of the Contact Centre, overseen by Director Darren Minns.

Contact Centre Team Leader

As a Team Leader on the Funeral Notices team, Denise leads a team of dedicated Customer Advisors who are responsible for communicating with Funeral Directors across the UK. The team receive calls and emails to book notices into local newspapers and online at funeral-notices.co.uk. The team are also responsible for checking every notice we receive prior to publishing - all the while working to strict deadlines and maintaining their reputation of providing excellent customer service.

Denise says the best part of her job is helping the team with any queries, helping to make sure notices are checked before deadline and supporting them with any IT issues. Speaking of the Funeral Notices team, Denise said:

"They're just a brilliant team, they have everyones best interests at heart."

Denise's natural aptitude for IT and systems has seen her take on additional responsibilities behind the scenes on funeral-notices.co.uk. Denise works in the background creating and amending the listings pages we provide for every Funeral Director placing notices on funeral-notices.co.uk. The listings pages appear behind every notice published by a Funeral Director and can be viewed using the Find a Funeral Director search feature.

Denise's work on funeral-notices.co.uk gives her valuable insight into how the website can help and support Funeral Directors, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their business.

Denise is proud of the way the website helps families too:

"Funeral Notices gives friends and family somewhere to share tributes to their loved one. They can easily share their notice on social media too, collecting tributes and memories in one safe place online."
