Richard Howlett has been with Reach Plc for just over ten years working under Darren Minns in the Contact Centre.
Richard's role is pivotal to the success of the department as a whole, supporting each team with any technical help they may need. Richard also played a huge role in the creation of funeral-notices.co.uk and continues to be at the forefront of its continued development.
Richard describes his role as:
"I provide support to all the teams involved with the day to day running of Funeral Notices. Whether that's technical support for the people taking calls from Funeral Directors who want to place notices, or it's assisting our developers who are making constant improvements to the website, you'll usually find me in the thick of it doing hands-on testing, providing feedback, and trying to ensure everything runs smoothly."
The favourite part of Richard's job is seeing how much funeral-notices.co.uk has grown since its launch and the valuable resource it is to families across the UK:
"Funeral-notices.co.uk has been built up into such an impressive website now, and I've been there to see it grow out of nothing. That's really something to be proud of.
"Funeral-notices.co.uk not only provides a great way of sharing the details of the funeral to a huge audience, but it is also a really great space that people can come back to year after year to light candles or leave memories of people they miss."
One of the things Richard is most proud of is the community he has helped to create through funeral notices:
"Funeral-notices.co.uk is a community. Of course there's a close community of us behind the scenes making sure things keep working as they should, but then there's also the vast community of people out there visiting our site day after day, and we don't take that for granted."
The website is designed to help communities across the UK. Richard also likes the way he can support Funeral Directors through his work on the website:
"We can provide Funeral Directors with a simple way of having all their Funeral Notices on their own website, which gives more people a reason to spend time on their site and learn about their brand. We'll also give them free advertising if they want to become a Preferred Partner!"

Richard is a huge fan of comic books, having been reading and collecting them for about 18 years - he even has his own Instagram account dedicated to the comic books he owns.
Richard also loves to watch all the Marvel movies and TV shows. The rest of his time is spent with his family, in particular his farm obsessed 3 year old, Sonny.
