Helplines Partnership is a membership body for charities and organisations that offer help and support via telephone, email, text or webchat. They currently have around 350 member organisations in the UK, who offer services across a wide array of topics, ranging from adoption to Alzheimer’s, from bereavement support to mental health emergencies, and many more beyond.
England’s first ever
Helplines Awareness Day is on Thursday 23rd February, 2023, and is hosted by the Helplines Partnership. They believe that these life-affirming (and often life saving) services do not get the recognition they deserve.
The CEO of Helplines Partnership, Paula Ojok had this to say about the occasion:
"Helplines Partnership strives to raise awareness of the amazing work helplines do every day, which often goes unnoticed. We wanted to create an awareness day to ensure we continue to grow our message of how vital helplines are. The recent pandemic, cost-of-living crisis and other factors have left many people feeling isolated, awaiting support, advice or even treatment. However, helplines continue to be there, throughout the day and night, as a safety net for us all, whatever we may present with. As the membership body, we now want to support helplines by raising awareness and support for their services." One simple thing you can do is watch the following video, highlighting the important work of these helplines and also just how difficult it can be to work on one:
