Place2Be is a children's mental health charity with over 25 years' experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools. They provide mental health support in schools through one-to-one and group counselling using tried and tested methods backed by research. Launched by the charity in 2015, Children’s Mental Health Week is in it’s eighth year.

What is Children’s Mental Health Week?

As a mother of three myself, I fully understand the immense value of supporting children’s emotional and mental well being. 1 in 6 children and young people have a diagnosable mental health problem, and many more struggle with other emotional challenges. This week is all about spreading awareness of the issues children face, how we can support them, and the resources and help available. It is also a great opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause, helping to get closer to a future where every child has easy access to mental health support.
How can I get involved?

This year’s theme is Growing Together, encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others grow. Make this your theme for the week and talk to your children and others about what this means to you and them.

There are some great ideas and resources available if you want to get involved in fundraising. You can hold a Dress to Express Day with your school, workplace or family and friends, where everyone wears whatever they like, the more extravagant and expressive the better! There is some great advice on how to make this a success on the website.

You can use social media to spread awareness about the cause by sharing your own experiences or promoting Children’s Mental Health Week. There are downloadable resources available to help with this as well such as posts, images and other ideas.

To make a donation, or to download any of the available resources, you can visit childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk or to find out about the great work carried out by Place2be visit their website place2be.org.uk
