Charity Spotlight: Christmas Special

We covered Mind in our last Charity Spotlight, which you can read here, so we won’t spend too much time on them now. Only to say that the Christmas season can be tough on a person’s mental health, but Mind are there all year round to offer help and support to whoever needs it.

Their ‘Christmas Unwrapped’ campaign depicts images of people who are smiling on the outside, but who might be feeling different on the inside.

The cost of living has skyrocketed over the last couple of years, with food shopping and household bills becoming unaffordable for many people.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks that is predicted to distribute over one million emergency food parcels this winter; that’s more than in any other year. Thousands of those looking to the food banks for help will be doing so for the very first time.

A donation to the Trussell Trust could help one of those families facing financial hardship to put food on their table. Your money could also help the Trust to campaign for a future where no one needs a food bank.

Shelter exists to fight for your right to a safe home. Donating to Shelter will help them to answer emergency calls from families who are facing the fear and uncertainty of being made homeless, help to pay for legal advice for a family in crisis, and allow them to advocate for access to secure and permanent homes for everyone.

Thousands of older people will spend Christmas Day alone. In fact, Age UK report that over four million older people live alone in the UK, and one million of those had nobody to spend Christmas with last year
