One of the things we are most proud of here on funeral-notices.co.uk, is when we see something positive coming out of what will be an incredibly tough time for family and friends. When a loved one passes away, many decide to raise money for charity in their memory, and it’s the outpouring of love through these generous collections that make what we do here feel worthwhile.

To illustrate what a positive impact they can have, we thought we could highlight some of the amazing collections we hosted throughout August, particularly looking at those who have chosen to fight cancer in memory of a loved one.

Understandably, we see a lot of cancer charities being chosen, as this horrible disease affects far too many lives. Pancreatic cancer is particularly cruel, as half of the people diagnosed with it die within just three months. The money raised by Steve’s family and friends will go towards research breakthroughs and expert care.

Patricia Ann (Pat) WALTERS

The statistics say that 95% of women would survive ovarian cancer if diagnosed at stage one, but 90% of people do not know the symptoms to look out for. In this case, increasing awareness of ovarian cancer will literally save lives, and that’s why this money raised by Pat’s friends and family is so important.

Michael James (Mike) PASSMORE
