Here on the funeral-notices.co.uk blog we like to highlight awareness days and charity campaigns as much as we can, but there are just so many of them that it would be impossible to write about every single one. When it came to the month of March, I scrolled through trying to choose one and there were just so many that sounded interesting or that were completely unknown to me, that I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of them for you here!

Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal

Probably the most well known of the appeals on this list, Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal sees fundraisers wearing yellow and selling daffodil badges to raise money for the charity. All the money goes back into Marie Curie to make sure that they can help as many people as possible with end of life care.

If you want to take part and raise some money for this great charity, then check out their fundraising page for ideas on how to get involved.

On 23rd March 2023, Marie Curie will also be holding their annual National Day of Reflection, which gives people a chance to remember loved ones who have died, support those who are grieving, and just connect with one another. This will be marked with a minute’s silence at noon.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Target Ovarian Cancer’s mission is quite simple; to improve survival rate of those suffering with ovarian cancer through improved early diagnosis and funding life-saving research.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month gives the charity the chance to put ovarian cancer in the spotlight, and this month they intend to get everyone moving, shouting, and rasing money to try and put a stop to all the late diagnoses that are devastating lives.

Brain Tumour Awareness Month

On Wednesday 1st March, at 11am, Brain Tumour Research will observe a minute's silence at each of their Centres of Excellence, as well as at their head office, and they invite you to do the same. They will also be hosting their #ShineALight campaign which asks people to light a candle at 7:30pm on the 1st March, and to share a picture of it on social media using the hashtag.

One in three people know someone affected by a brain tumour, and these two moments will allow people to remember someone who has been lost to this devastating disease.

As part of Brain Tumour Awareness Month, Brain Tumour Research will also hold their annual ‘Wear A Hat Day’ on Friday 31st March, as well as the new ‘Rose for Hope’ campaign. Information for both of these can be found on their website.

Endometriosis Action Month

In the UK, around 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth are currently living with Endometriosis, regardless of race or ethnicity. Endometriosis can have a huge impact on a person's life in a number of ways, including chronic pain and fatigue, depression, conception difficulties, and more.

Endometriosis UK hosts Endometriosis Action Month every March so that people all over the world can show their support for people living with or affected by this condition. This year they intend to do some myth busting and highlight the real impact that living with endometriosis can have on a person and their family.

Walk All Over Cancer

Finally we have one of the biggest charities in the country, Cancer Research UK, hosting one of their huge annual fundraising initiatives, Walk All Over Cancer.

To take part you need to commit to walking, running or jogging 10,000 steps every day in March. If you want to take part then you can sign up, get yourself a free t-shirt, and start your very own fundraising page.

Cancer Research UK works tirelessly to raise money in order to fund vital research in the fight to beat cancer. Every step you take in March could mean that we are one step closer to a world free from cancer.
