A November to Remember

November always starts with a bang in the UK, quite literally as we have just seen on 5th November with Bonfire night, then it tends to hit a bit of a lull as the rest of the month is spent prepping for Christmas, but we’re here to tell you that it doesn’t have to.
Here are just a few of the things you could get up to in November!
Sunday 12th November, 2023
This is a big one in the UK, and no doubt you have already seen the poppies popping up in supermarkets. As well as just chucking a donation into the box and pinning the paper poppy to your coat, why not have a look to see if there is a Remembrance Day service or Parade local to you? Most of the major towns and cities will have them, and it’s a nice thing to do if you have never been before.
Monday 13th - Friday 17th November, 2023
One of the lesser known annual awareness events, but one that has been running for nearly 20 years now. A lot of schools will hopefully be highlighting this during the course of the week, but it would be great if the adults could take note as well. On Monday 13th they have a special Odd Socks Day to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week, and all you have to do to join in is to wear some odd socks!

What better way to ring a smile to your own face, than to spread some kindness to others! We wrote an article on World Kindness Day a couple of years ago, so check that out if you want to know more:
Social Media Kindness Day and World Kindness Day Friday 24th November, 2023
Black Friday, closely followed by Cyber Monday on Monday 27th, is a day full of discount deals, and a perfect opportunity to get some of those Christmas presents bought in. Try not to get taken in by deals that are not actually as good as they seem though! A good idea is to make a list of the items that you’re interested in, check their prices before Black Friday, and then on the day you’ll know if the advertised sale price is really a good reduction, or just clever marketing.
Throughout November 2023
November is a fun excuse to grow a moustache for the month, and see what you look like with a bit of face fuzz. This is done in conjunction with the Movember Foundation to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health issues. If you have ever wondered what you’d look like with a handlebar, a toothbrush, or a horseshoe, now is the time to try it!
If we’ve missed anything out that you are taking part in this month, then please let us know in the comments below!
