IreneWRIGHTAT her home on Sunday, March 29, Irene, aged 95, of Altham. The devoted wife of the late John, much loved mum of Graham, Sandra and Georgina, cherished grandma of Catherine, Joanna and Stuart, great-grandma of Amy and Rose, Irene was also a loved relative and friend. Irene was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1925 following the whole family emigrating to the USA in 1923. The family returned to the UK when Irene was aged four and settled in Birmingham. During the war Irene worked as a welder in the factories producing war materials. Irene met John and they were soon married and started a family of their own, becoming doting parents and always working hard to provide for their family. The family moved to Clayton-le-Moors and remained living here for the rest of their lives. Irene was a devoted family lady who adored all of her family and was the most loyal friend.
