Jack LeonWILKESPeacefully passed away on Tuesday, 29th October at the age of 21 at Southampton General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Prior to his passing, he received exceptional care there, for which his family will be forever grateful.
Beloved son of David and Shirley, a wonderful brother to Tommy, loving partner of Gwen and a much-adored grandson, nephew, and cousin.
Jack was a valued member of 5 Platoon, B (Rorke's Drift) Company, 1 Royal Welsh. During his brief yet impactful time at the Royal Welsh, he formed deep bonds and achieved much, embracing military life and continuing his family's proud legacy of service. His enthusiasm, wit, and adventurous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. A dedicated soldier and avid sportsman, Jack exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, even during his illness. He departed this world leaving a legacy of joy, loyalty, and cherished memories. His absence will be profoundly felt, and he will be fondly remembered by friends, family, and comrades.
A public service to honour Jack will take place at St. Celynnin's Church, Llwyngwril, on Saturday, 23rd November 2024 at 11:00, followed by a committal at Aberystwyth Crematorium at 14:00.
For those unable to attend the service but wish to bid Jack farewell, the hearse will be leaving Hendre Hall at 10:30 and making its way to St. Celynnin's.
After the services, there will be an opportunity to share more memories of Jack at Hendre Hall, Llwyngwril.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Young Lives Vs Cancer are gratefully appreciated, if desired, and can be made through the funeral director.
