HarryWHITTLEof Grasmere Road, Haslingden, died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Friday, January 10, aged 87. Harry worked as an engineer in the newspaper industry, working at the Manchester Evening News. He was a lifelong member of the Conservative Club, and a member of Haslingden Cricket Club. Harry leaves behind wife Joan, son David and daughter-in-law Mary; grandchildren Matthew, Sally, Jonathan and Leigh; great-grandchildren Jade, Charlotte, Poppy and Harriet; and great, great-grandson Hadley. He was also brother-in-law to Bill and Kathleen and Clarry. The funeral took place on Wednesday, January 22, at Accrington Crematorium with a service officiated by Neil Overton. Donations in memory of Harry, if desired, will go to Cancer Research UK c/o funeral director Josephine Durning for Johnson, Durning and Woods Funeral Service, 8 Pleasant Street, Haslingden.
