Aunty Grace played an important role in the extended Whitehouse family. Her cheerful, easy conversation and kindness and loyalty in her written communication with the Australian branch of the family was appreciated over 40 years. Over those years we were lucky enough to meet up in person at a few family events. The slide show and talk at her and Brian’s 60th Wedding anniversary highlighted Grace’s life long interest and ability with colour, design and fashion. And this ability, is now being utilised in different forms by Grace’s four extremely talented Granddaughters. We also saw photos of a young, sporty and extremely strikingly Grace. Probably Grace’s finest achievement, apart from 60 years of marriage to Brian, is seen through her four children. All successful in their own right, they have gone onto have highly productive and worthwhile lives as well as being really good fun and decent human beings.
Aunty Grace got on really well with her nieces and nephews. She provided a welcomed smile and fun chat at family events, but she also was the person to share her stories and photos of the older Whitehouse family. Growing up in almost isolation of an extended family, Grace gave me more of an understanding of my background, than anybody else.
My thoughts are with Karen, Phillip, Sue and Paul and their Partners, and families. Also for my Aunty Tim. Xx
