I met up with Peter in 1977 when I joined Lucas Transport. He was one of many drivers that made me welcome. Our friendship bonded closely also with my family and friends who were all very fond of Peter.
‘Ginger Pete’, as he was known by many, was always happy and smiling at any events that Lucas Transport put on. He would be there, always dressed smartly, in his suit and tie and you’d find him with a brown and mild in his hand chatting with everyone. He would have been a great family dad. He was always keen to know about our 3 lads and what they were up to through their lives.
Peter enjoyed his sport – football for Warrener & Mason, cricket, golf & bowling with Lucas Transport, marshalled for motor rallies - and even parachuting.
Peter will always be thought of as a really genuine bloke, being interested in others no matter what was happening in his life.
I know that Peter will be greatly missed by all of his remaining work colleagues, friends and, of course, his relations but his smiling face will be with us all forever.
