To all the family back home, we send love and sympathy for the loss of Ian.
His passing leaves a vacancy none could even think to fill.
That amazingly acerbic dry wit and the fastest replies on any comment you cared to make, Ian in his responses could make you cry with laughter or cringe at your stupidity.
His loss will leave a quiet no one can quite fill.
My last visit home i thanked him for allowing me to steal his sister and his room for a few days whilst i visited . His response, " Aye ,well see you don't do it too often and no mess in my room mind pet ".
Seriously, he was the funniest person ever. You knew that he was sharp as a tack and capable of making you think hard before stating the obvious.
I did leave his room tidy for fear of the consequences .
There are so many things to say about the man Ian. He loved his family beyond measure, he was a great mate to many but first and foremost he was a decent and kind man.
Future phone calls from Australia to our Angela will be missing the cheeky quips he would throw in to keep us all on our toes. What a character i shall miss dearly.
So Heaven has a legend in it's ranks, no doubt he will have them all rolling in the aisles.
To his wonderful family, we send love and respect for your sudden loss.
His parting words to me a few years back were " it's time you went home " , well Ian , you are now home with those you loved dearly. Rest in Peace.
Love and smiles from across the miles , my heart goes out to you all.
