JeanTAYLOR(Penketh) Jean Taylor, of Edinburgh Drive, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, aged 92 years. Jean was born and bred in Oswaldtwistle and spent all her life in the town. She went to Rhyddings Secondary School before she started work as a weaver, at age 15, at Enfield Mills. She then worked in various offices and factories across Accrington, spending many years working at Joseph Arnold’s. After retirement she went back to work part-time at Oswaldtwistle Mills in retail, where she had started her working life. When she retired at age 60 she went to college to study art and became a talented artist selling pieces of her art in the local area. From a young age she was a skilled knitter and craftswoman and used her skills to make clothes for all her family members. She was a member of Ossy Cloggers for many years and also part of a singing and dancing group called the Golden Girls who performed across the area at different venues including homes for the elderly. She also spent holidays abroad with friends and lived life to the full. Jean was the wife of the late John Taylor and leaves behind her children from a previous marriage, Laura and Lance Penketh and Stephanie Lynch. She also leaves her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at 11am, on Thursday, February 27 2025, at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but donations in memory of Jean are being welcomed for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3DR. Tel: 01254 390542.
