I had only known Maureen for a short time and enjoyed drives out and lunches now then. Maureen had a huge zest for life and a smile that lit up the room. Happy to chat with those around here and always interesting, Maureen was happy wherever she went and lived life to the full, kind sand always caring

I was privileged to meet Maureen, sadly only the once however I heard many wonderful things about Maureen the wonderful lady in Newquay who had a fabulous large family and was soo full of fun and life yet able to care and give so much to others to and was my grandmothers best friend- a lifelong friendship that never faltered.

My Grandmother Joy always treasured her memories and loved to reminisce about the ‘girls’ many adventurers and times together. They valued there opportunities and took them when they could to get together for coffee and cake and go for a lovely ride in Maureen’s Car on my Grandmothers trips back to Newquay..
Deepest sympathy to Maureen’s children, family & friends and also the community she helped grow and develop! I am certain Newquay and surrounding areas will not quite be the same. Xx

In the early Nineties, Mrs Maureen Tarrant was motivated to establish a residential home for individuals with special needs. So was born Tarrant House. What was special was her determination to create, not just a “care home” in the typical interpretation of the term, but a home blessed with a family atmosphere for the small number of residents of whom our son Simon was one. For the 30 years since opening Tarrant House - while it was under her family’s management - her determination to provide “My guys” as she called them with a comfortable, no expense spared and secure environment, was unfailing. Indeed it was the driving force which created Tarrant House earning repeated high praise for its quality and professional standards. Without doubt we as a family have benefitted from her support of Tarrant House, its staff and facilities; Simon, who’s been a resident almost from the opening, does indeed regard TH as his home. We are all so very grateful for what Mrs Tarrant was instrumental in creating and can only hope that, now it is in corporate ownership, her legacy will be preserved to truly honour and respect her original vision.
