In the early Nineties, Mrs Maureen Tarrant was motivated to establish a residential home for individuals with special needs. So was born Tarrant House. What was special was her determination to create, not just a “care home” in the typical interpretation of the term, but a home blessed with a family atmosphere for the small number of residents of whom our son Simon was one. For the 30 years since opening Tarrant House - while it was under her family’s management - her determination to provide “My guys” as she called them with a comfortable, no expense spared and secure environment, was unfailing. Indeed it was the driving force which created Tarrant House earning repeated high praise for its quality and professional standards. Without doubt we as a family have benefitted from her support of Tarrant House, its staff and facilities; Simon, who’s been a resident almost from the opening, does indeed regard TH as his home. We are all so very grateful for what Mrs Tarrant was instrumental in creating and can only hope that, now it is in corporate ownership, her legacy will be preserved to truly honour and respect her original vision.
