James PatrickSMITHMr James Patrick Smith, fondly known as Jim, aged 81 years, passed away at his home in Accrington with his loving family around him on Saturday, January 25. He was the loving husband of Hazel, loved dad of James and the late Justin, beloved grandad of James, Sophie and step grandad to many and great grandad of Poppy. Loved brother of Anne, Kathleen, Theresa and the late William and Peter. The family would like to thank Clare for all her help and understanding. Jim started his working life at English Electric as an engineer. He went into the Merchant Navy as an engineer officer. He worked a little time for British Rail, then onto Hepworths, Padiham as a maintenance engineer. In his last ten years he worked for Dial-A-Ride. He loved ships, he had many pictures and models that he had made. Jim loved to travel with his wife, mainly cruising abroad. His passion was listening to various types of music. His funeral service and cremation will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Tuesday, February 11 at 1pm. Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Jim will be gratefully received to Alzheimer's Research c/o and enquiries to Hillside Funeral Directors, 318 Burnley Road, Accrington, BB5 6HG Tel: 01254 384877.
