A tribute to Joan: Pt 2

Joan was remarkable in her independence, living life fully and remaining active up until just a few days before her passing. And even then she was just as cheerful, joyful and witty. Her resilience and determination were inspiring to see, a true reflection of the fantastic life she led and the incredible support she had from Emma and family.

There was a unique charm in Joan's little routines—like wiping the dogs' eyes, folding blankets just so, or ensuring her hair was always perfectly in place. These special touches were such a part of who she was and will always stay with us as cherished memories.

Thank you for being such a wonderful part of my life, Joan. I will always treasure the memories we created together. You will be missed dearly, but your spirit will live on in all of us who were lucky enough, and forever privileged to know you.

A Tribute to Joan: Pt 1

Dearest Joan,

I want to take a moment to share just how much you meant to me. You were so much more than a patient; you became a dear friend and a part of my family.

Spending time with you was always a joy. Joan had the most sparkling wit that could brighten the most mundane moments. I’ll never forget those many evenings we spent together, We shared countless hours watching her favorite shows, where her occasional commentary was often more entertaining than the programs themselves.

I remember how she would listen to her favourite artists—Olly Murs, Simply Red, Phil Collins and many others. Music seemed to lift her spirit, just like those favourite TV shows we spoke about - from Paul O'Grady to Jane McDonald’s cruising adventures; they would bring a twinkle to her eye.

What truly stood out was your kindness and love for your family. You showed me what it means to care deeply for others, and that made my job feel like a privilege. I loved being there for you, making sure you felt safe and happy. Those weeks we shared will always hold a special place in my heart.

At first, Joan would groan at the thought of doing her exercises when I showed up, but fast forward a few years and I feel she not only looked forward to my visits but also managed to turn those workouts into a fun little routine—complete with her playful banter and the occasional dramatic sigh that made us both laugh!

In Loving Memory Of A Wonderful Aunty

Thank you for all the kindness and support you have shown me throughout my life especially when I lost my lovely mum.
I have wonderful memories of times spent with you throughout my life, especially spending time with you when you were helping me with my french homework which you were a superstar at and the times you helped me with job applications.
I will also cherish the summers we spent at Horton with you and my lovely uncle and the fun we used to have on the journey home.
To lose you brings such sadness, but know you will live on in my heart and in my memory.
I was truly blessed to call you my Aunty.

Love Always
