GordonSHARROCKGordon was born in Wigan on 21 September 1930, the son of John (b. 1885) and May (née Roberts, b.1889). He had two older sisters (Jessie & Bertha) and they lived together in Poolstock Lane, Worsley Mesnes.

Gordon was an apprentice in coach building at Massey Bros (engineering). He served his National Service with the RAF Regiment. For most of his adult life, Gordon lived in Moston Lane East - at 218 and then at 149 - in north Manchester and worked at the nearby Avro's aircraft factory in Chadderton, fabricating the nose cone sections for planes such as the Vulcan and the Nimrod. Gordon had three sons (Peter, Craig, and David) for whom he would make many wooden toys. He said that being happy was simply his greatest ambition. He loved watching old Westerns on the TV. And he loved dancing and travelling with his great friend, Agnes Fleming. Gordon died on 20 November 2021 and (on 15 December) his funeral was at Blackley Crematorium.

Gordon's ashes were taken to the grave of his father (Jack Sharrock) in the churchyard at Church Street in Orrell, WN5 8TG.
