MargaretSHACKLETONof Stacksteads, died peacefully at home, holding Gillian's hand, on Thursday, October 17, aged 87. She worked at Slipper Works Bainbridge, Stacksteads and Atherton Home, Stacksteads. She also worked at the Astoria, Rawtenstall, Amins Fashion, Rawtenstall, MENCAP and charity shops: Fellowship of Churches charity and Waterfoot Age UK. She was a dinner lady at Fearns school. Margaret was an art lover; she did oil painting with Billy Ingham. She was also an avid reader, loving Agatha Christie and Poirot, attended Bible classes with Dorothy Heyworth, was an animal lover and loved soaps and quiz programmes. Daughter of Alice Greenhalgh and James Hoyle and wife of the late James Shackleton, she leaves sons and daughters Christine, Ross and Gillian, grandchildren Matthew, Michael and Richard, sister Dorothy and husband Derek and nephews Philip and Christopher. A Celebration of Life service and cremation took place on Friday, November 1 at Accrington Crematorium with celebrants Brian and Penny Bury and Sheila Halsall. Donations if desired to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary. Funeral director: Graham Holt for Knight & Boys Funeral Service.
