Libby (Elizabeth Caroline)SERPIS(née Guy) 30th November 1956 - 5th August 2023 It is with the deepest sadness that we announce that Libby died suddenly, at home, after a long illness bravely and stoically borne. Born in Liphook, Hampshire, and for the last 24 years a key member of the Henfield community, Libby was the epitome of kindness. Her humanity and empathy for people shone through in the quiet, understated way which was evident throughout her life: she noticed what people needed (even when they didn't perhaps yet realise it themselves) or what needed doing, and just got on with it. During her formative years the Guy family moved to Tunbridge Wells, Kent where Libby and her sister, Pip, attended Tunbridge Wells Girls' Grammar School. The school's motto is 'Give your Best' - 'Give' not 'Do' - and that is how Libby approached life, whether it was her work (a long and highly successful career at AMEX), her OU studies and degree, her beautiful watercolour art, her championship sloe gin, her birding, her cooking (her chocolate brownies were the best) or her involvement in village life; in everything that she did, Libby always gave so willingly of her time and love to help others. Married to Ashley for over 43 years, she was a devoted and loving wife and life partner - it is hard to think of one without the other. Together they enjoyed wonderful adventures in far flung parts of the world, often centred around their mutual and deep interest in the natural world. The many happy memories they created together, will be of some comfort to help numb the fact that she was taken far too soon-she still had so much life yet to live. A wonderful and much-loved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many, she will be so missed. Funeral arrangements: Friday, 8th September 2023, 2:30 p.m. at St Peter's Church, 4 Church Lane, Henfield, BN5 9NY and afterwards at the i360 in central Brighton. Donations:(Family flowers only.) Donations gratefully received in support of The Motor Neurone Disease Association and St. Barnabas House Hospice via the Much-Loved page in Libby's memory https://elizabethserpis.muchloved.com/
