HildaSEDDONOn April, 21 peacefully at her home in Baxenden, aged 89 years. The dearly loved wife of John, much loved and loving mum of John, Stephen, Duncan and Paul, loved mother-in-law of Sandra, Katherine, Sharon, Paula, cherished grandma of Hilary, Christopher, Emily and Matthew and great grandma of Sebastian and Freddie. Hilda was the cornerstone of her family, a devoted family lady who found joy and purpose in the family fold. Strong-willed and forthright, Hilda was never one to shy away from speaking her mind. Her honesty was a testament to her integrity, and her unwavering strength was a source of inspiration to those around her. Spending her life in the home where she was born, when she married John, they embarked on a brief adventure across the road but moved back a couple of years later. One of Hilda’s greatest passions was her love for Scotland, particularly the enchanting landscapes of Skye and The Orkneys. Family holidays were spent having a leisurely stroll amidst the stunning scenery, and Hilda loved all nature and the outdoors. At home, she loved to grow flowers from seed, though it was John who did all the gardening, under Hilda’s careful instruction. An avid reader, Hilda spent many a happy hour immersed in her huge collection of novels. She also enjoyed listening to the radio and watching Countryfile. A devoted and lifelong member of St John’s Church in Baxenden, Hilda truly was a blessed member of the Baxenden community, visiting friends, fellow churchgoers, and always thinking of others before herself. Living the life of a true Christian, Hilda loved and cared for people and in return was blessed to receive love and kindness. First and foremost at her happiest in the heart of her family, Hilda was a wonderful wife, the proudest mum, mother-in-law, grandma and great grandma. Up-to-date with all that was happening in their lives. Her example was, to always give more than you take. May she rest in peace. The service will be held on Thursday, May 9 at St John’s Church, Baxenden at 11am, followed by interment in the Churchyard. All enquiries to Champ Funeral Services. Family flowers only please. Donations are gratefully being received in memory of Hilda on behalf of St John’s Church, Baxenden. To make a donation please visit champfunerals.com/ obituaries or send to the funeral directors.
