Alan RICKMAN Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman
An outstanding British actor and director, much loved and missed by many. Rickman trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began his career in the theatre, becoming a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). His first break in television came in 1982, but his big break was as the Vicomte de Valmont in the RSC stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985, and after the production transferred to Broadway in 1987 he was nominated for a Tony Award. His first film role was in the now legendary Die Hard (1988) playing German terrorist leader Hans Gruber. He went on to star in many films throughout his career, gaining further notice for his performance as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series. Rickman will be remembered with love and lives on in the many film and television characters he made his own.
On 14 January 2016, Rickman died in London at age 69. His remains were cremated on February 3, 2016 in the West London Crematorium in Kensal Green. His final two films, Eye in the Sky and Alice Through the Looking Glass, were dedicated to his memory.
R.I.P Alan Rickman.
