Albert EdwardRADCLIFFEThe Reverend Canon Albert Edward Radcliffe died on the 3rd December 2023 in hospital following a short illness. Surrounded by his family. He was born in Bootle in Liverpool in 1934 and trained for the ministry in Birkenhead. He served first as a curate and then chaplain and parish priest in Knotty Ash in Liverpool, Haifa in Israel and Alkrington and Ashton-under-Lyne in the North of England. In 1991 he became Canon Residentiary at Manchester Cathedral, a post he held until he retired in 2000. He was a writer and poet his published work include: 'John Henry Newman Selected writings to 1845' 'The Bible as comedy humour as hope' 'Wyvern and the Gryphon. A horror story for young and old' Following retirement, he and his late wife Trena were actively involved in the congregation of their local church St Chad's in Ladybarn, South Manchester. He leaves behind his two daughters Bex and Naomi and much-loved Grandchildren Stan and Charlie. His funeral is being held at Manchester Cathedral on Thursday 28th December at 10.30am.
