BrianPOOLEEx Engineering Director, Smiths Industries, Bishop's Cleeve Ex Managing Director, Crane UK
My beloved husband Brian died from pancreatic cancer on September 16th at the age of 76. Brian loved life, all sports, especially football and rugby. He played rugby joyfully for both Smiths and Cheltenham rugby clubs, and nothing made him happier than having a pint or two with his footie chums on a Saturday. He loved animals and everything Disney, especially Donald Duck. He enjoyed listening to music, the Beatles and ABBA being his favourites.
He was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all his family and friends. I want to thank everyone who cared for him, especially Dr Sean Elyan, his oncologist, all the nurses, doctors and staff in the wards where he spent some time. A special mention for the Sue Ryder Hospice at Home team and the District Nurses who were absolute gems. And I cannot say enough about the Sue Ryder Hospice at Leckhampton where he spent his last days. Incredible people, kind, caring, simply marvellous.
As his wife I am carrying out his final wish so there will be no formal funeral. Brian wanted to leave this world with no fuss!!!! I will be holding a get together in the future to share memories and will let everyone know the date soon.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in his name to any cancer charity, or Sue Ryder, please do so.
Donations can be made online through this notice or sent care of: Alexander Burn Funeral Directors 22 Church Road, Bishop's Cleeve, Cheltenham, GL52 8LR. Tel. 01242 673300
