Thomas JosephO'BRIENof Wilders Moor Close, Worsley and Dunmore, Co.Galway passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of St. Ann's Hospice, Little Hulton on Sunday February 18th following an illness bravely borne.

Tom was a loving brother and uncle, who cared deeply about his family and he always maintained a constant contact with his home in Ireland.

Tom worked as a teacher for many years at St. Thomas of Canterbury R.C. School, Higher Broughton before taking the role as head teacher at English Martyrs R.C. School in Urmston until his retirement. His love of teaching and education inspired so many of his students and work colleagues. Tom loved life. He loved nature and being outdoors. He was a keen walker and regularly went on long walks with his good friend John. Tom also loved sport and football in particular and was active in Salford Schools FA for many years and of course he was a lifelong fanatical supporter of Manchester United.

Tom will be greatly missed by his family, his wonderful neighbours and his wide circle of friends.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Tom at the Church of Christ the King in Walkden M28 3LN on Wednesday February 28th at 2pm following which Tom will make his final journey to his home town in Co.Galway where he will be laid to rest.

Donations in memory of Tom if desired to St. Ann's Hospice, Little Hulton.

I have great memories of My Uncle TJ (Tom) looking forward to each time he would come on holidays and be with us. I remember he brought me to different horse racing meetings in Sligo, Roscommon and Kilbeggan. He brought me to see Manchester United games in Old Trafford and went to the Cliff Training ground. He showed me sights of Manchester like Granada TV studios Coronation Street, Transport museum , Lowry centre
I remember he brought me to see the Lake District and to the City of York. I remember the days we walked around Dunmore
I remember his visits to Glenamaddy
I remember all the chats about Manchester United, Galway GAA, Republic of Ireland soccer.
I have lots more memories of a wonderful Uncle who I will miss and remember him always
Thank you Uncle TJ (Tom)
