Always looked forward to seeing Mickey at the regular get togethers of ex St Cuthbert’s guys at The Bridge. Mickey was the life and soul of the party - he loved a laugh. He also had a more serious side when needed, demonstrating great knowledge when speaking from the heart on many subjects.

Going back to school days, Mickey was excellent at sports, particularly football. Being on the end of a Mickey Nye tackle was not a pleasurable experience.i seem to remember.

Mickey will be greatly missed by the ex St Cuthbert’s guys. He was greatly respected and loved by us all.

Rest in peace, Mickey. Your journey has now ended but you certainly won’t be forgotten. It was a privilege and a blessing to have known you.

Michael was a school friend, St Cuthberts Grammar School.
Superb footballer .
Fortunately he was a very regular at our monthly meetings at The Bridge Newcastle .

Latter illness was tragic and seemed sudden.
He was a joy…wit, never to hang back on comments ,successful, careers in the NHS etc but always managed to speak from experience .
Never PC fortunately , but always debated with a smile .

Will be badly missed
Good wishes to his family .
RIP Michael
