The obituary notice of David MOTLER

We extend our sincere sympathies to David’s family and loved ones. My dear mother, Marion Motler Young, very recently learned of her cousin David’s passing and is deeply saddened for your loss. She and David stayed in contact through letter mail for many years despite residing an ocean and continent apart. When his annual Christmas card did not arrive last month, it was presumed delayed due to a national postal service strike. She always appreciated his lovely correspondence with family updates, both cheerful and touching. He often added a kind note to me as the “Battenberg girl”, since learning about my love of the special cake which I first discovered as a child visiting my maternal grandparents (Thomas Motler & Gladys Hunt Motler) in London, England. I have kept a small news clipping he sent me decades ago with a clever ditty about the cake. He was very thoughtful and kind. May he rest easy, with his dear Jean, knowing his legacy endures and his family will miss and celebrate him.

We took a trip to the Lake district. me Dave and Jean.
Only spoke to Dave a months back. He seemed in good spirits. Cant believe he's gone. Just after Jean.
