Don was my landlord for a few years in the 1990s when I lived in the Bay. He became a good friend and looked forward to our annual meal out and his newsy Christmas card.ionly learnt of his passing from his brother after sending my own card. I will miss Don very much. My deepest condolences to his family and friends

I was very friendly with Don enjoying our Princess Theatre visits together in Torquay most recently end of August.
And apart from being the proverbial " gentle-man " he had a sharp wit and was extremely well read and I enjoyed our verbal discourse.
His most sudden and unexpected passing leaves a hole in Babbacombe.
So very sad and as Don enjoyed his proverbs I will only say it's a truism that bad things happen to good people.
Tim.

I am so sorry to hear about Don's death. I knew him from my earliest days with Kent Probation and I loved his eccentricity and sense of humour. We kept in touch at Christmas all these years. His card was usually the first and it's only because it concerned me not to have received one that I checked on the Internet fearing the worst.

We shared many laughs and I always hoped we might meet up again one day.

Condolences to his family. Ros Rootes

I knew Don when he worked for Kent Probation Service in 1975. I was a secretary there and I was surprised and upset by his sudden death. I enjoyed his company at the probation service. he was lovely. I have followed his plot summaries of films online - he was so prolific. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends.
