I bought my daughter a quarter size violin for her sixth birthday. We went to Bill for lessons and when she was around 12 years old Bill asked her to join the Gallovidians. We visited Annapolis and Washington in the USA. A truly memorable experience. My daughter went on to join the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and travelled to Australia, New Zealand and many other places with them, all thanks to Bill. He never once raised his voice to her, he would just say things like "you didn't practise much this week Jenny". A truly lovely, gentle and inspirational man.

Bill was a true gentleman, and a gentle man. A true friend over many years, Bill and I made much music together, culminating in a classical recital which we took round primary schools in 1988, giving the lie to the myth that "children don`t like classical music." They loved it.
Sadly, Bill`s final years were clouded by illness and loss, but I shall forever cherish the memory of his friendship.
