WilliamMCINNESIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of William the husband of the late Elizabeth who he loved dearly. He passed away peacefully at home on October 14 at the age of 93, after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his daughters Elizabeth and Marie, sons-in-law John and Stefan, his loving sister Hebron and her husband Andrew and their families, his beloved grandchildren Charlotte and her husband Danny, Emma and her partner Rob, Becks and his partner Gracie and Rachel and her partner Jack and great-grandchildren Joseph, Sophia and Jasper.

William came down from Scotland after he was spotted by Accrington Stanley and he never left Accrington. His main life was in Huncoat where he ran a fish and chip shop with his wife Elizabeth, he also worked at Fairclough’s and then Hollands Pies up until his retirement. He loved walking and chatting to people and also loved his breakfast at Frankies Cafe.

We would like to thank the district nurses, carers, Peel House doctors who looked after William with great care and respect, also Sylvia Shackleton who was the housemother of the Accrington Stanley team on Avenue Parade and looked after them. We would also like to thank Peter and Sonia of Hynburn Funeral Services for their kindness and help they have given.

The funeral will be held on Monday, October 28 at St Josephs Church at 10am, followed by a burial at Accrington Cemetery then on to The Whitakers Arms to celebrate his life, all welcome, friends old and new.
If bringing flowers please bring red and white his team colours.
