Nicola HelenMAYHEWWith deep sadness we announce that Nicola Mayhew has died. She was a beautiful, brave, compassionate, caring, fun, bright and warm hearted friend, daughter, sister, aunty, relative to many and good neighbour. She fought so hard for so long with chronic mental illness. We trust that she now rests in the perfect peace and comfort that she desperately longed for.

Nicola blessed so many people in her 43 years particularly in the North east of England where she grew up and lived for most of her precious life. She wanted the best for others though she struggled so much in her own life.

A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate Nicola's life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, 1st November 2024 at St James the Great Church, Morpeth. Please wear colour and/or bring something to remember Nicola by.

Heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for Nicola and who brought joy, comfort, care, empathy, acceptance, love and support to her. Nicola loved music, dancing, singing , going out for meals (especially Chinese) and to cafés, being in nature, photography, shopping, being creative, hugs, colours, Whitley bay, Tynemouth, aquariums, animals, Disney, ice skating, watermelon, sugar snap peas, carveries and much more. She loved to celebrate on all kinds of occasions, including with her Church family.

Nicola was very fond of her 3 year old niece Isabelle. They shared precious times together. Nic was great with children and was a babysitter and also a volunteer at local schools and charities. She enjoyed chatting and going out and about and made time for others: talking to a stranger or being there for those she came across who also had invisible pain and suffering.

Nicola Mayhew: born in Newcastle upon Tyne, June 1981; died in Morpeth in October 2024.

Kind gentle Nicola, rest in peace 💗
Sadly some of the heaviest baggage that people carry through life is invisible.

I have a lot of good memories with Nicola. I remember we went to Newcastle to watch A star is born and we were crying our eyes out even through Elsdon Square. I remember the New Year’s Eve we spent together
She was a lovely lady who was so caring and kind. At peace now My friend Nicola xxx

I will miss our deep conversations at church, also the frivolous ones when we would giggle at the silliest things and I would hear all about your shopping and dining trips out. I loved chatting about faith and singing and choir, and those times when you asked for healing support through prayer or to be accomnapiued on a walk on those 'tough' days. We loved you to bits special lady. Rest in peace and rise in glory. Brian (and Janet) Hedley

I will always remember Nicola's smile and laugh, and the way she so entertained my own children so brilliantly when they were small and we had a memorable festive season in Christmas Corner.
