DerekMAYPassed away peacefully at home on 10th September, aged 73. Many will remember Derek from his days as a green-grocer at Bentley & May stall on Rochdale Market. Loving husband of Gwyneth and dad to Jeanna and Adam and grandad to his six granddaughters Lia, Briony, Macy, Twyla, Channing and Gilon. Also, Dayle - soon to be grandson-in-law and Danny, a very helpful friend. Thanks to Milnrow Village Practice, district nurses and Springhill Hospice who helped him during his long illness. Funeral to be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Monday 4th October at 11.50am and then on to Milnrow Cricket Club. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Springhill Hospice or Stroke Association. All enquiries to S Wellens & Sons Tel: 0161 4645609

17th December 2024. Hi Derek, went to the cemetery today with Simon and Helen. Had a chat with Mam about you and John. After that we went onto your house where Gwyneth had put a lovely lunch on. Exchanged Christmas presents and then we came home. It is so good of Simon and Helen to give their day up
off to run me around. By the way congratulations on being a great grandad next year. Love you little brother. Your loving sister xxx Edna xxx

10th September 2024. Hi little brother, three years ago today since you left us and went to join my John. I miss you so much Derek, always trying to cheer me up after I lost John. 7th July 2024. Hi Derek, Gwyneths birthday today as I am sure you know. She has gone to Wales with Jeanna in a lodge. She text this morning and said it is lovely. Hello my wonderful brother, happy 76th birthday love. The mould was broken when he made you. No one could have had a better brother than I had.
