I joined Chester St John Ambulance as a cadet in 1979. Mr and Mrs Matthews both dedicated their life to supporting young people to learn first aid and support their communities -but it was not just about first aid - they also instilled the right values including kindness and compassion into the young people who attended.

I will be forever grateful to the Matthews for their dedication and support - I remain a member of St John Ambulance some 40 years later and remember them fondly.

RIP Mrs Matthews.
