PhilipLYNCHMr Philip Lynch, of Lupin Close, Accrington, died peacefully after a very short illness, on Wednesday, November 18, aged 90 years. Philip served in the army as a dispatch officer, delivering mail for the Home Office. He was also involved in communications. Following this, he went to work at Singer Cobble (tufting mch) Engineers, where he travelled all over the world, including South Africa, Spain, Poland, and even Russian during the Cold War period. His last employment was as an engineering fitter at Thom Engineering in Blackburn. Philip was a member of the Rotary Black Dog Group. He was a model boat enthusiast, western film fanatic, and he loved to socialise with family and friends. In his time he was the oldest scuba diver at the age of 70 years. He also loved boating, sailing and fishing - and womanising. He was first married to Mary Lynch, and they had a son, Stephen. He later married his second wife Margaret, who already had a son, Denzil. Philip leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral is due to be held on Friday, December 4, 11am at Accrington Crematorium, led by Rev Kevin Logan.
