I’ve only recently learnt of John’s passing. We were colleagues at NWERAC in the 1980s - a long time ago. He was a great colleague, a good friend and a mean guitar player. I’m listening to Fay Ray as I type this. R x

I am so grateful to have had you as a colleague, mentor, honorary family member and friend. The world feels a little colder now you've gone, but I mean to keep your no-nonsense spirit of inquiry alive in my heart. Thanks for everything John!

Thanks for some of the most important and certainly the most entertaining contributions to the world of economic geography. Thanks also John for supporting me.
