Mary 'Eileen'LOCKETTMary 'Eileen' Lockett, 88, passed away peacefully at her most recent home in Llangollen, North Wales on January 14, 2023. Previously a lifetime resident of Stockport, Eileen (also known as Rosie) attended St Joseph's school and Stockport Commercial School. She worked in administration her whole life, eventually retiring as the Records Officer for Stockport College. A talented singer, who performed across the Northwest, Rosie also sang in choirs and choruses. Her primary love was the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singing (LABBS) where she was a founding member of both The Liberty Belles and The Cheshire Chord Company. She achieved amazing success, winning a national title singing lead in Quadraphonic Quartet and national and international titles with Cheshire Chord Company chorus. Rosie was also the Lead Section Leader and Assistant Musical Director. Once she retired from competing, Rosie was an active coach in barbershop circles; she also directed the church choir at St Mary's in the Market Place. Eileen is survived by her four children, Ann (David), Christopher (Francine), Anthony (Wayne) and Catherine (Kevin). Also surviving her are her six grandchildren and extended family. A requiem mass will be held at St Joseph's RC Church, Tatton St, St Petersgate, Stockport, SK1 1 EJ on Monday, Feb 6th at 12pm. She will be laid to rest privately at a later date. A reception will follow where we hope there will be lots of singing!
