ME MUM - WHAT LOVE MEANS TO ME
The Christmas morn game of pool,
Rarely a winner, dont blame the tool!
At 4am we asked you to play,
But in your bed, you'd wisely stay.
The ear wax removal regime,
3 reluctant members of your team,
You said "hygiene,"
We said "they're clean!"
Your Sunday roast dinner,
& rice pudding with skin,
I can taste it now,
Never made the bin.
The Sunday noon treat,
Always a licorice sweet,
For you & me both,
Life so complete.
The night to see Jaws,
My heartrate beat yours,
Oh what a fright,
You held me all night.
The schoolday lunch,
Piccalilli & grated cheese,
You knew how to please!
The shared laughs, "disso" the dog,
"Fetching" the log!
The 70's holidays to Blackpool,
The 80's holidays to Devon,
We certainly found our heaven!
Those days on the beach,
A boating adventure, no need to teach,
So along with a morley, they named him Rob,
We became sailors,our summer job,
You waved us away in our dinghy,
But laughed so loud when we returned in a ringy!
Those nights at the inn they called the mole,
Always our favourite drinking hole,
DJ played your favourite tune, about a boy, Japanese i think.
Must be time for one more drink,
Precious time to have a think,
Invaders from space in the air,
Pixie & Dixie, they saved no chair!
Up at 5 to make my lunch,
Bacon & cheese, i had a hunch,
Who made that? They all would jest,
An easy answer, just the best!
The Friday night steak & chips,
No lifetime on these hips!
The vanilla snice to follow,
Was never hard to swallow.
Your tagliatelle on a saturday night,
Filled your family with delight,
How about another wine,
How could i, ever decline,
The arrival of grandchildren, william, sam, emma, ayla & can.
The joy they gave you,
Repaid thru & thru.
That game of badminton on the lawn,
You'd never win if you played til dawn,
Instead, have a beer, made by Stella,
What about me? Said your favourite fella.
Your boxing day dinners,
You made us, the winners,
The boxing day supper,
Along with our favourite cuppa.
Finally, Just last year, that warm winter glove.
The chilly winter cycle ride made easy, with love.
Before i go, just one last crave,
Four places at your table, be sure to save,
One for Peter, one for Paul, one for Clare & one for Dave,
& When the father calls our time,
Let's play on repeat, your wonderful life rhyme.
So until we meet again,
Sleep tight mum, your work is done!
I know, for me, you'll be waiting,
With the piccalilli & cheese grating!
We will all miss you mum.
