Ron was a fantastic brother to my step father, Geoff, who admired him immensely. With the exception of one story of sweaty socks in his face, Geoff was very proud of the remarkable feats Ron achieved as an accomplished amateur runner and, in his earlier years, football player.

When I was just a little boy, Ron gave me his well informed advice on cigarettes. I still recall that conversation almost 40 years later.
