So terribly sad to hear this news of Shaun's passing. Taken well before your time my friend.
I got to know you Shaun in 1980 through our mutual friend, Brett, with all of us having such a great camping holiday at the 'South Shore' resort that Summer and a 'barrel of laughs' as young teenagers just starting out in life after completing our 'O' Levels at Senior School that year.
Whilst our lives took different paths as we progressed into adulthood we remained friends, despite sometimes not always seeing or hearing from one another for long periods of time (not for any adverse reason I hasten to add, merely because of our individual commitments to our own families, career paths and so on). However, you were a friend who would be there to help & support and I thank you for that, as I outlined to you on a number of occasions in recent years. We corresponded with one another in December last year to pass on our traditional 'Seasons Greetings'. The last time I was in conversation with you was in January of this year when I asked your opinion on a marque of car. You were a private person and I respected that but you outlined to me that you were recovering from treatment and away from the business at the time. I told you to get well and the car situation was irrelevant, of no great importance and to focus on getting better and we'd speak again at some point when you were feeling more like yourself.
I'm just so sorry Shaun that I had no idea just how poorly you perhaps were at that time when we spoke last, but as already stated I appreciate you valued your privacy and didn't go seeking sympathy for the plight you and your family were so cruelly bestowed with.
I was so pleased back in 2003 when you & Marion attended my evening wedding celebrations along with Barbara and Mike. It meant a great deal to have you joining us that night.
You achieved a great deal your life Shaun, packing a lot into those 60 years on this earth. A very driven man who aimed high and reached goals.
