Bert was one of my oldest friends and I valued him greatly. Although there were long periods in which we were out of touch, he will always have a special place in my heart. He was a man that you could always depend upon to value you as a person and I always felt valued as Bert's friend. Bert was a really good guy and I was very sorry to hear that he had died. My prayers and good wishes are with Beverly, their children and Rajat.
Love and Peace.

I met Bert at Bristol Medical School. He was a standout student and a very special doctor and GP. He always understood what a privilege and responsibility it was to be able to help people, patients and families at time of need and distress. He always gave of his very best. He always had time for everyone and fought for the individual and for the community. He remains an inspiration to colleagues and students and will always be so. What a star!

I met Bert at Bristol University Medical School. He was a stand out student and a special doctor and GP. He always understood what a privilege and responsibility it was to help people, patients and families at difficult times and he always gave of his very best. He stood up for individuals and his community and was, and still is, an inspiration for colleagues and students of all ages and all disciplines. He was the warmest of people who always had time and interest for everyone. What a star.

As well as being a respected local GP, Bert worked hard to uphold traditions that add character to Longwood. He was involved at a very early stage with interventions that prevented the Mechanics Hall falling into ruin, allowing others to follow on in later years to gradually build what is now a vibrant centre for community and private events, theatrical productions and leisure activities. Up to the time of his death he chaired the Longwood Sing committee, working hard to ensure that the ‘Mother of All Sings’ remained relevant in a world that has changed out of all recognition since its inception over 150 years ago. He will be greatly missed at annual events such as the Longwood Sing and Carols by Candlelight at St Mark’s Church, and as an active member of the wider Longwood community.

A wonderful man and outstanding GP. My and my family GP 35 for years , always had time for his patients. Always there for a crises. The world is a sadder place without him. My love to his dear wife and children. Margaret & James Carroll.
