Saying goodbye and giving thanks today for having had such a wonderful , supportive and inspiring Father in my life .
Dad was one of a kind , he was never emotional but loved deeply and gave a hug with hearty back slaps! He was born 20.9.1929 a West Countryman in Plymouth Devon .
He had a tremendous mathematical and engineering mind gaining an MSC in both , a successful career in the RAF and British Aerospace, was a Man’s Man ,who though was adored by the ladies ,his heart was only ever for my Mum .
He loved to travel, the daily telegraph crossword , althletics ,rugby ,golf , and Lawn bowling in later life .
Boy! could he eat desserts and chocolate! Apart from his talents in sport he liked music especially old time Jazz and blues and musical theatre .
Most of all he loved us ,his family and was extremely proud of his Grandchildren and Great Grandson .
It’s going to be a sad day saying goodbye and we will all miss him terribly .
But today we give thanks for him having led such a happy, successful and incredible life .
Rest well now Dad for in all of your family you will live on ❤️

A true Old Suttonian to the end. One of the last pupils evacuated to St Austell. Fondly remembered by many Members of the Association.

Bernard was a true gentleman and a wonderful friend. During his visits to Florida, we spent many happy times together over the years. He used to love organising his (crack of dawn) golf games with Raul, before returning back to the villa for a daily swim in the ocean. Then rallying dearest Pauline and their guests for an action packed itinerary. Your man was always full of energy and surprises.
His super quick wit and his quirky ways, meant you never knew what was coming next! Always a loving and supportive family man, husband, father and grandad, to his ever expanding family.
His love and admiration to dearest Pauline never ceased to amaze us, tho he didn’t ever wear his heart on his sleeve!
Rest gently and peacefully Bernard. You were a true and trusted friend to us both and we will miss you greatly. xxx
