Ann Jennison taught me English Literature at Chesterton Community College between 1985 and 1988. She was enthusiastic and inspirational. She was great fun. She instilled in me a life long love of reading. I thanked her for this on a chance meeting with her in the late 1990s. So sad to see news of her passing. I will never forget her.

I had the absolute pleasure of being taught English Literature by Ann Jennison at Long Road. In my first year I was rather lazy and distracted, and she encouraged me to realise my potential and work harder to get to university. In my second year sadly she wasn't my teacher, but I remember vividly the day I received an offer of a place at university and by chance saw her in the corridor. I gently let her know that I had received the offer and that it was thanks to her that I pushed myself to get this far. I saw a tear in her eye and have ever since been glad that I got the chance to let her know what an impact she made on my studies and future. I had no idea she was ill and only found out once it was too late to make contact any further. She was an inspirational, funny and expressive teacher, and I loved her Shakespeare lessons above all others. I've gone on to be a writer and editor, and am ever mindful that this is very much thanks to her encouragement. Thank you always, Ann.
