I first met Brian when he was chair of the PTA at Stapleford School and I was secretary. He was easy to work with and we became friends. Later, when he started his gardening career, he came to garden for us and became almost one of the family. He cared very much about the work he did, and often brought us cuttings from other gardens, or seedlings. We still have one of the wooden plant troughs he found for us. He was fond of our daughters (Elisabeth was in the same year as the twins) and we all became used to seeing him in the garden with his little dogs. I know many others in the area will miss not only his gardening skills, but also his cheeky grin and kindliness. RIP Brian xx - Linda Whitebread
