Doris LauraHOPKINSONof Woodside, Haslingden, died on Wednesday, January 8, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 94. Doris worked at St Ambrose R.C. School (All Saints) as school secretary before training to become a teacher of office practice, taking a post at the school where she taught for many years, up until her retirement. During the war she was with the A.T.S. and was sent from her home in Kent to be stationed in Preston. In her spare time she enjoyed lace-making and caravanning. Wife of the late James, she leaves two daughters, four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral took place on Wednesday, January 22, with a Requiem Mass at St Mary's R.C. Church Haslingden, followed by interment at Haslingden Cemetery officiated by Fr. John Broadley. Donations, if desired, requested for Alzheimer's Society c/o funeral director Josephine Durning for Johnson, Durning and Woods, 8 Pleasant Street, Haslingden.
