BarryHOLLANDIt is with sadness that the family of Barry announce his sudden passing from heart failure on the 14th September 2024.
Whilst he had in recent years struggled with mobility and general heath. In his younger years Barry was an outgoing person whose charm and intelligence led to him developing a many and varied friendship base with those he met both professionally and personally. His kinship will be fondly cherished and remembered by them for the happy memories they shared together.
His working life was always based in the service of others. From his beginnings as the head of the student union during his time at Edge Hill University. Following on to his time working with autistic children as Deputy Head of Peterhouse School and then latterly as an educational psychologist. Barry always tried to use his knowledge and skills to improve the lives of those individuals in his care. He will be missed by those he was able to help and by the colleagues he worked with.
His partner at the time of his death, Suze was a great source of comfort and support to him. She and her family had welcomed him into their lives, sharing with him their love and companionship during his final years and our thoughts go to them at this time also.
He is survived by his four sons Damon, Tim, Robin and Jay along with their partners and children. Barry will be greatly missed by them and also his wider family especially his sister Sue and brother John.
Funeral service will be held at West Lancashire Crematorium on Tuesday 15th October at 12 noon.

Genuine and lovely man. Worked together many years ago and kept in touch, exchanged many messages both fun and serious and plenty of banter. You will be missed, BGH 💕

Where do I start, firstly the photo on here is when Barry was delivering at a conference for me. I met Barry through Carolyn and the Parent Carer Forum Agenda. Barry also diagnosed me and my boys. Barry was clever, interesting and a great sense of humour I could listen to him for hours. We were still in touch up to a couple of weeks before he passed. What a wonderful man and a massive part of my families journey and all the he families he supported and diagnosed in Stockport and beyond xx

I am proud to say, i had the great pleasure to work with Barry at Peterhouse School. Barry was an intelligent individual. He was a laid back individual. I would often converse with Barry, because i respected him as an individual. No matter how busy his day was, if i needed to seek his advice, he would be right there for me. I liked Barry because he was smart, intelligent, a good advisory person and he loved to have fun. I do recall Barry's dance moves. For me the most important thing he did for me was he gave me an excellent reference of my working days with Peterhouse,so i would get a job in USA
