DanutaHEWELLPassed away on 25 August 2024 in Leicester General Hospital. Born in 1929 in then Poland, Danuta Zarzycka was deported with her family to Siberia at the beginning of the war and when liberated from Siberian camps ended up in a Polish orphanage near Arusha, Tanzania. Thanks to the intervention of a family friend, then Prime Minister of the Polish government in exile, she came to England with her younger sister Grazyna, the only survivor, acquired British nationality and settled in Loughborough with her husband Andrzej Hewell. For many years, she worked at Loughborough University.

Her funeral service will take place on Friday 20 September 2024 at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 203 Park Road, LE11 2HE. No flowers please. Instead, donations can be made in her memory to the Salvation Army. For further information, please contact her nephew: srambosson@viciadvisory.com

I was one of The Late Danuta 's God children and was very much saddened by her passing.

She always treated me with kindness and consideration and will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

I was one of many who were Danuta's God children and was very much saddened by her passing.

Over a period of over 71 years she has always treated. me well with kindness and advice on many topics of interest.

She will.be remembered in our thoughts and prayers forevermore.

May she now Rest in Peace.
